Is shampooing daily harmful for the hair?
Everyday washing shouldn't be a concern as long as you are using a mild shampoo, which can suit your normal hair. Something that nourishes while it cleanses. If your hair doesn't feel unclean, just sweaty it is okay to simply rinse out the sweat too if you choose to.
Also, after wash, keep your damp hair in a turbaned towel for about 15 minutes. Finger comb it in a gentle massage-like movements and only brush gently.
To wash your hair, always wet it first before applying shampoo. Then, lather it by massaging with your fingertips. Rinse thoroughly until squeaky-clean. Pat dry and finger-comb out the tangles or use a wide toothcomb.

How to treat split ends?
Split ends, which are mainly caused when your hair's cell fail to hold together are result of exposure to harsh elements, chemicals or even excessive hard brushing.
The right kind of shampoo will minimize hair damage. Meanwhile it is also important to replenish ceramides, which are hair's natural cement, and is responsible for holding the hair cells together. A ceramides enriched shampoo will help repair hair fibre and reduce split ends.

How to maintain "shiny" hair
"Shiny" hair always goes with any oily skin. The scalp has a tendency to secrete excess oil, which makes it lank and greasy. It is therefore important to keep the scalp will only activate the oil glands causing further oiliness. So will combing more than required more so ever, do not succumb to the temptations of a harsh shampoo, which temporarily restores your hair but in the long run harms it.
Using a special shampoo for oily hair is the best, which is gentle enough to be used often. Also essential is to rinse at the shampoo thoroughly finishing with cold water.

How to manage "thin and limp hair" well
Thin, limp, hair does not have a tendency to fall flat and dead. What you need is a volume booster. For starters choose your shampoo carefully. Ordinary shampoos don't do much for your kind of hair. Look up a shampoo especially for limp hair
Secondly, don't comb your hair when wet. Let it dry naturally and finger comb it. A hair dryer can boost your hair for a while but on a regular basis can prove harmful for your hair. Then, brush your brush straight from your scalp and shake it free.

How to manage " Dry/Brittle Hair"
First check your shampoo! If you are using a harsh, unsuitable shampoo, it will not only dry your hair, it will cause breakage and dry scalp may turn flaky and cause a lot of other problems.
Use an especially mild shampoo made for dry hair. A good conditioner also helps soften dry hair. After wash keep your damp hair in a turbaned towel for about 15 minutes. Finger comb it in a gentle massage-like movements-this-will activate the oil glands in your scalp. Then brush it gently. Oil massages followed by a steamy, hot towel on your head every 15 days will also help get rid of dryness.

Dandruff
Dandruff is a mysterious topic. Mysterious from the viewpoint that there is no commonly agreed upon theories about what actually causes the condition. There is also no known published cure.
Dandruff (or dry flaky scalp) is an itchy, annoying and persistent skin disorder of the scalp. A dark suit and dandruff simply don't go together!
There is nothing more embarrassing than to have someone brush white scaly flakes off your beautiful black dress or navy blue jacket.
Daily shampooing with thorough rinsing has been the treatment recommended until the present. Since dandruff is a natural process, it cannot be eliminated. It can only be managed and controlled.

How can I make my hair grow?
Well, honestly, nothing has been absolutely proven to make hair grow. There are many schools of thought on this one. Some say that extra circulation throughout the scalp will increase the rate of hair growth (i.e. scalp massage). It is well known that piano players and typists have nails that grow at faster rates since banging on the keys tend to send a tiny shock wave to the nail matrix thereby stimulating the growth. Since hair is made of the same hydrolyzed protein as nails, it is possible that the same can be said of extra circulation on the scalp. Scalp massage feels great if nothing else so grab one whenever you get the offer!

Is hair conditioner really important?
Wow...yes it is! Shampoo is made only to cleanse the hair and conditioner will detangle, shine, impart sheen, and add moisture and protein. The only people I usually don't suggest conditioner to be those with buzz cuts.
Conditioners can be placed into 2 categories: Daily or Weekly. A daily Moisture and nutrient conditioner will usually only detangle and provide ease of styling and temporary moisture to the hair. Weekly conditioners are usually more intense (i.e. treatment) with higher quality ingredients and more permanent benefits.

How often should I highlight my hair?
Highlights are beautiful and give the hair more body - which is excellent for fine hair!Highlighting is done with foils or a cap. Some highlights are even brushed or "painted" onto the hair for special effects. 2 to 3 colors can be used for dimension and is recommended since different lighting can pick up different colors.
A whole head highlight can usually be done 2 to 3 times per year. More often if the hair is short and the highlights are cut off. If the hair is longer and old highlighting is very noticeable by a demarcation line at the crown, then it is time for the new growth to be done!
It is not damaging to highlight often as long as only the new growth is highlighted. This needs to be done carefully since overlapping the highlighting mixture can result in serious breakage and damage at the point of overlap.
If your hair is permed, a conditioning treatments prior and after highlighting is recommended.

Why not color my at home?
Oh boy! You should never highlight your hair at home. The main reason is IT NEVER LOOKS GOOD! There is no way that you or your friend, mother, sister, aunt, etc can do a good job if they are not stylists. Aside from the fact that you just cost yourself a trip to the salon for fixing it (and corrective color is expensive!), these are chemicals and some professional hair stylists spend a long time learning about them so that they won't make your hair break off!
Bleach is a very delicate thing. It is not uncommon for someone to come to the salon and say, "Why is my hair orange? It always worked before..." Well, I could go on and on and on.
Please, go to your salon to have your highlighting done. We have heard and seen so many horrifying results from home color that it just isn't worth it!

Does anything really fix split ends?
NO - nothing.
There are products that can temporarily "glue" them together so your hair doesn't look frazzled on the ends. Just cut them off and prevent them from coming back. Use good conditioners, allow your hair to have a treatment once a week and don't blow dry your hair on high heat.

To Perm or not to perm?
Perms are great! They can give soft wave, tight ringlets, or beautiful soft curls. Perms can also be used for volume or straightening an overly tight natural curl.
If your hair is fine and thin, a perm may be just what you need to volumize! Also, you can wear your hair so many ways when it's permed. You can blow it out straight (keeping the volume), dry it natural with a little mouse or gel, or let it go natural and curly!
If your hair is too curly naturally for your taste, then perm it on very large rods and give yourself soft bouncy wave all over!
Thick hair may want to consider this: Hair will be larger in diameter after a perm and so if your hair is thick now, it will be thicker yet. Go for soft waves and looser curls that you can use a blow dryer on. The nice thing about getting a perm for this hair type is that if you currently use a curling iron and your curls droop by the end of the day, they will hold much better with a perm.

How do I know what color highlights to get?
This question will be answered differently depending on your stylists' ideas. All Hair stylists are all different and have different opinions on this sort of thing.
Personally, it takes into consideration your existing hair color, eye color and skin tone.
Most people have an overall "warm" or "cool" appearance and their highights should fit accordingly.
Let's say you have black hair, brown eyes, and olive skin. You are probably cool toned and gold highlights just won't fit try an auburn or even a cranberry highlight for drama.
Warning: Black or dark brown hair does not look good if bleached up 10 to 12 levels to be blonde! The color will wash you out and also the demarcation will be horrendous! Don't overdo it. The trick is to compliment your own skin and hair tones.
